LLM Educator Training

Course Overview

In today's fast-paced world, Large Language Models (LLMs) are becoming increasingly prevalent. However, educators are struggling to maintain an understanding of the technology; meanwhile, student use is drastically increasing. This tool endeavors to give guidance to educators on the optimal use of LLMs in the classroom.

Course Modules

I

LLM Selection

The first module will explain how to select the optimal LLM for a given educational task.

II

Prompt Engineering

The second module will introduce prompt engineering techniques, including chain-of-thought prompting and emotion prompting.

Start Module II →
III

Hallucination Detection and Ethics

The final module will provide techniques for detecting hallucination in LLM responses and address ethical considerations in educational AI use.

Start Module III →

Learning Objectives

Pedagogically, this module aims to provide teachers with the ability to confidently use LLMs to enhance their lessons and teaching practices.

Upon completion of this three-part module, educators should be able to:

Determine the optimal LLM to use for a given educational application

Create ideal prompts to achieve educational goals

Evaluate response accuracy of LLMs to avoid hallucination

Course Methodology

This mini-course will follow the flow of proper use of LLMs. First, one must select the appropriate model for their task. Once a model is chosen, one must learn how to properly communicate with the LLM using prompt engineering. Finally, once a response is received, it is essential to learn to differentiate true information from hallucinations.
